Responsibilities

The Project Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the logistical and day-to-day activities supporting Western’s Medical Innovation Fellows (MIF) program and various partnered programs for WORLDiscoveries (WD). The incumbent provides relationship initiation and maintenance with MIF program stakeholders, including both internal and external from the entrepreneurship community, collaborating academic institutions and funding partners. The Project Coordinator will assist in the implementation and coordination of projects and engaging with various stakeholders for the planning and organization of workshops, conferences and events with the goal of expanding program outreach and promoting the MIF program globally.

The Business Development Manager leads, develops and implements strategies to enhance commercialization of intellectual property created by Western faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students and staff and provides support in matters related to industrial interactions and intellectual property management under the area of Engineering Sciences – Electrical/Mechanical/Computer Science.  The incumbent will establish relationships in order to solicit new innovations for WORLDiscoveries, seek out commercialization opportunities and maintain relationships with industry, partners and other stakeholders in order to reinforce and advance the reputation of Western and WORLDiscoveries locally, nationally and internationally.

The Digital Marketing Manager provides advice and recommendations to a team of commercialization professionals, and implements a variety of marketing activities in order to enhance and support technology transfer and outreach activities. The incumbent is responsible for online marketing management and makes recommendations regarding technical solutions for new systems and new channel options, ensuring compliance with copyright practices. The Digital Marketing Manager will design, create and assess marketing efforts within their portfolio, with a goal of building and promoting their portfolio’s and Western’s brand and reputation locally, nationally, and internationally. The incumbent will provide creative services and consultations for projects, start-up websites, newsletters, information packages and guides, annual reports, presentations and other marketing materials to ensure appealing and impactful designs are developed that fit with their portfolio’s goals, and with the University’s marketing and branding strategies and guidelines.

The Administrative Assistant supports the operation of the office and activities of WORLDiscoveries in areas of administration, communication and logistics. The incumbent provides support to the Administrative Officer with organization of office records, retention and archiving systems, coordination of office resources, meetings and workshops. The incumbent also assists with the planning and execution of special events and projects. The position provides support to the Manager of Intellectual Property in all matters relating to Intellectual Property correspondence and updating of the Inteum Database. The Administrative Assistant also coordinates and manages the fulfillment/shipping of product orders received through WD’s online marketplace (InnoVerify). The incumbent provides overall administrative support to the unit, including The Executive Director. The Administrative Assistant also provides general information and front line support to visitors to the Department, responds to phone and e-mail inquiries and refers inquiries to other resources.
